Sopranos Filming Locations - North Jersey Guide
Updated 2026 · Unofficial local notes · All locations publicly accessible unless noted
Grew up in these towns. These are the stops that are actually worth making - and what to expect when you get there.
The essential stops
Satin Dolls - the Bada Bing
230 NJ-17, Lodi, NJ 07644
The exterior of the Bada Bing is Satin Dolls, a strip club on Route 17 in Lodi. It is a real, operating business and looks exactly like what you saw on screen. The exterior is identical; the interior set was built separately for filming.
Worth visiting? Yes, if you want the single most iconic shot. Drive-by or park on the access road. It's on Route 17 so traffic is moving - don't stop in live lanes.
Local note: Route 17 in Bergen County is a high-traffic commercial highway. Budget for slower movement than it looks on a map.
Holsten's Diner - the final scene
1063 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003
This is where the show ended. Holsten's is a real ice cream parlor and diner that has been in Bloomfield for decades. The booth where Tony sat is recognizable to anyone who watched the finale.
Worth visiting? Absolutely. It's a working restaurant - go in, sit down, order something. The onion rings are still on the menu. Staff are used to fans and generally hospitable as long as you're a paying customer.
Local note: Bloomfield is an easy NJ stop. Parking on the street or lot nearby. This one should be on everyone's itinerary.
Satriale's Pork Store - Kearny
Kearny Ave, Kearny, NJ (approx. 101 Kearny Ave area)
The Satriale's storefront was a constructed set facade on Kearny Avenue. The structure is gone. It's a regular block now and there's nothing distinguishing to see on site. Fans still visit for the historical context of knowing where it stood.
Worth visiting? Only if you're already in the area. Don't make it a destination on its own - the facade is long removed. Some fans find value in the street context; be realistic about what you'll see.
The Soprano House - North Caldwell
14 Aspen Drive, North Caldwell, NJ (private residence)
The house used as the Soprano family home is a private residence in North Caldwell. People live there. It is not a tourist attraction and the residents have not opted into being one.
Rules: Drive-by only. Do not stop in front of the property, do not walk up the driveway, do not knock. The house is recognizable from the street at low speed.
Local note: North Caldwell is a quiet residential suburb. Visitors who behave respectfully tend not to have problems. Visitors who treat it like a theme park do.
Pizzaland - opening credits
304 Belleville Tpke, North Arlington, NJ 07031
The Pizzaland sign appears in the opening credit sequence as Tony drives through the area. It's a real pizza place on Belleville Turnpike. The sign is still there as of the last pass through the area.
Worth visiting? Mild credit-sequence satisfaction. Stop for a slice if you're passing through on the way to other stops - the Belleville Turnpike corridor is on a logical route between several locations anyway.
Newark - urban context
Multiple scenes throughout the series were shot in Newark, particularly in the Ironbound district and along industrial corridors. The city looks significantly different now than it did during filming in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Ironbound remains an excellent stop for Portuguese and Spanish food, which has nothing to do with the show but is genuinely worth the detour.
What changed since filming
The show ran from 1999 to 2007. North Jersey has changed in that time. Some locations are demolished, some are remodeled beyond recognition, and a few are still essentially intact. The Bada Bing exterior and Holsten's interior are the most preserved. The residential areas look broadly similar. Commercial corridors along the Turnpike and Route 17 have turned over considerably.
Plan your visit
The locations cluster into two loose groups: the Route 17/Lodi corridor for Satin Dolls, and the suburban Essex County loop (Kearny → North Caldwell → Bloomfield) for the other key stops. See the NJ trip guide for a driving order that makes sense.
