Plot
Tony puts together the pieces: Livia told Junior about his therapy, and Junior used that information to justify the assassination attempt. Tony confronts Junior indirectly through intermediaries. He visits Livia at the hospital where she has been admitted -- possibly a stroke, possibly a calculated act -- and tells her directly that he now knows what she did, and that he has told Junior she was the one who gave him up. Tony wants his mother to understand what she set in motion.
Mikey Palmice, Junior's driver and hit man, is shot and killed while jogging in the park. Tony arranged this through Christopher and Paulie. Junior is arrested by FBI agents on RICO charges. Livia is unreachable for questioning, protected by her hospital stay and whatever legal cover Tony has arranged. The season's violence concludes without ceremony.
The finale finds the Soprano family at the new Vesuvio for dinner. Tony sits at the head of the table with Carmela, Meadow, and AJ. He has survived an assassination attempt arranged by his own mother. He has stayed out of the boss title while consolidating real control. He steps outside briefly and looks at the sky. A storm is coming in.
