From Where to Eternity

Episode guide - plot, credits, music, and analysis.

Plot

Christopher recovers in the hospital from the shooting. During his time near death, he claims to have experienced a vision of hell -- specifically a hell populated by Irish mobsters who tell him that hell is Irish, and that two o'clock has some significance. Christopher is shaken and brings this vision up repeatedly. Paulie finds the account deeply disturbing. He has been nursing a private superstition about the supernatural, and Christopher's description of the afterlife does not comfort him.

Tony tracks down Matthew Bevilaqua. Sean Gismonte was already caught and killed shortly after the shooting. Bevilaqua is hiding in a rathole apartment, terrified. Tony finds him, beats him, and personally shoots him multiple times. It is a personal execution that satisfies Tony's rage and signals to the crew exactly how seriously Tony takes any threat to Christopher. FBI agents are tracking the situation from outside.

Janice has become romantically involved with Richie Aprile, a development Tony regards with dread. Richie is using Janice partly as a way to stay connected to Tony's world. Tony and Carmela continue their cautious reconciliation, moving carefully around each other at home with a politeness that sometimes breaks into something warmer.
