Carmela and Furio grow too close for safety, while Paulie discovers that he's not as big a fish as he thought he was.
Plot
Carmela and Rosalie Aprile go shopping at Eloise, a high-end boutique in Manhattan. The trip is an opportunity for two mob wives to spend money in a world that has no visible connection to where the money comes from. Carmela enjoys the outing with the specific pleasure of someone who has learned to suppress context. Rosalie, who lost her husband to cancer and her son to Tony's judgment, is managing in her way.
Tony is dealing with Feech La Manna, a recently released old-timer who has come back into the crew expecting to be treated as a senior figure. Feech is sharp and greedy and has no patience for the new arrangements Tony has put in place. He pushes into boundaries that belong to other crew members and behaves as if his long sentence earned him the right to do whatever he wants. Tony recognizes that Feech is a problem that will require resolution.
Carmela pushes Tony to fund her spec house project -- she wants to build a house on land in the area and sell it. Tony brushes her off initially. Carmela presses. Their negotiation over money is also a negotiation over her independence and what Tony owes her in exchange for the life she lives. Tony eventually agrees to provide partial funding while keeping the full extent of their liquid assets in his own name.
