Plot
Tony remains in his coma and the parallel Kevin Finnerty storyline continues. Kevin is being directed toward a Buddhist monastery where he is told his family is waiting. The inn Kevin stays at is connected to the monastery in ways the episode does not fully explain. Kevin Finnerty moves toward it with a patience Tony has never had in his actual life.
Back at the hospital, the crew is dealing with who runs things in Tony's absence. Christopher is the most obvious choice as acting boss but has liabilities. Silvio is more stable but does not want the responsibility. Arrangements are made that are temporary by design. Everyone is waiting for Tony to come back. Carmela is managing the logistics of the hospital while also managing the children's emotional states.
The Kevin Finnerty storyline ends with Tony moving toward the light of the inn where his family appears to be waiting on the other side of a window. The window is the threshold between the coma state and consciousness. Tony begins to stir. The doctors are cautiously optimistic. The family gathers closer. Tony Soprano is coming back, though what he is coming back as -- after this extended encounter with wherever he was -- is something the show will spend its next episodes trying to locate.
