Plot

Tony and Carmela drive up to Bobby and Janice's lake house in the Adirondacks for a long weekend. The four of them are together in the specific intimacy of a vacation cabin: meals together, board games, boat rides. Tony and Bobby get drunk playing Monopoly and the game escalates into a real fight. Tony says something cutting about Bobby's first wife Karen, and Bobby responds physically, punching Tony and giving him a significant black eye. Bobby, against all odds, wins the fight.

Tony is stunned and humiliated, but also, in some back chamber of his psychology, impressed. Bobby is not someone Tony has ever taken seriously as a physical threat, and the fight recalibrates his view of Bobby entirely. The aftermath is awkward: Tony nurses his black eye and Bobby has the uncomfortable situation of having beaten his boss. The four of them finish the weekend with that reality sitting between them.

The consequence of the fight is Tony's decision to have Bobby commit his first murder. Bobby has been in the family for years but has never personally killed anyone. Tony assigns him a hit in Montreal. Bobby travels to Quebec and shoots a man in a laundromat. He comes back changed in the way everyone who crosses that threshold changes. Tony watches Bobby absorb this experience and files it under his evolving understanding of who Bobby Baccalieri is.
